First Haircut

We did it!! We broke down and gave James his first haircut. He is growing too fast. I feel as though its too soon, and he shouldn't be ready for one yet. We put him in his high chair so that he couldn't turn as much. Jonathan was the brave one to do the cutting.

Before........

During.....

I'm done!!

Yay!!!!!!! It's over!!

Look at me!!! I'm so handsome!

It certainly isn't a perfect haircut, but at least James is a little less shaggy looking. His hair no longer hangs in his eyes or over his ears. You can also see his bruises on his head much better! I'm not sure if we will try again or take him to a professional next time. We shall see. For now it will have to do.

Snow Days!

It's classic Nebraska weather today. Lots and lots of snow. We had over foot of snow the last two days, 10.5 inches just yesterday. With the 40mph winds the drifts left behind are quite tall. Unfortunately, its bitterly cold out.

We've been occupying our time well though. I made some chocolate chip cookies yesterday. Jonathan came home early, which James was thrilled to have him home to play with. Jonathan spent almost an hour and a half shoveling yesterday. He did end up with some help from our neighbor with his snowblower. We also watched Julie and Julia in the evening. It was a fun movie. Jonathan also went outside to help push a car that was stuck in front of our house. They were a little high centered. The same neighbor was kind enough to come and snow blow our driveway again today. We'll see how long it takes Jonathan to do the sidewalk when he gets home.

James has spent a fair amount of time watching neighbors shovel and snow blow driveways, and the streets getting scooped. Maybe next year he can go outside and play in the snow.

Drifts in the front of our house.

I don't think we are going to be grilling any time soon!

The snow has certainly created a beautiful scene for Christmas. We'll see if it hangs around until then or not. It's putting me in the mood. I think it will feel more like Christmas when I get all our presents wrapped.

Hives and Blood?!

Well, today has been quite an interesting day so far. This morning I tried to give James his first scrambled eggs. He never even opened his mouth. He did have fun squishing them and smearing it all over his face. Once I got him all cleaned up a few minutes later he had hives all over his face. (I'm thinking its from the eggs not the rag because its the same one I always use. I'm hoping he isn't allergic to eggs, that would be a surprise and disappointment. Hopefully, it was a fluke or something that he will outgrow. ) After calling the doctor they told me to give him some benadryl and to avoid all egg products until his next doctor appointment. So, we bundled up and braved the cold to run to Walgreens for some benadryl. By the time we were home his hives were gone, so we could've stayed home where it was nice and toasty. At least it wasn't more serious. They didn't bother James at all. The whole time he was playing, squealing and crawling from room to room.
He has been happy ever since. Then we were playing this afternoon. I was lying on the floor and he crawled to me, swung his hand, got his finger up my nose, as I removed it he scratched it, and the next thing I know my nose is dripping blood. I barely kept it off the floor while running for a tissue. Poor James was left wondering why I wasn't playing with him any more. At least the bleeding stopped quickly and our play could resume. Now all I wonder is what will happen later when he wakes up from his nap?
